Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; Thy judgments are a great deep:  O Lord, Thou preservest man and beast.

Psalm 36:6

Dear Niki:

How do you respond to a person who says that if I were a true Christian I would know that animals don’t have souls and won’t go to Heaven.  I don’t want to be perceived as an argumentative person, but I feel I need to say something.

Thanks, Jenny

The best and easiest way to handle these questions from “Christians” is to let them borrow your copy of There Is Eternal Life For Animals, since it goes through the Bible and identifies all of the pertinent Scriptures.

The second best book is Who Says Animals Go To Heaven?  In this book you have over 60 people from the ministry that share their beliefs that all animals go to Heaven.  There are so many Bible scholars quoted in the book, such as Matthew Henry, John Wesley, and John Calvin, and interestingly many people, especially ministers, have books by these people in their libraries which they use for spiritual edification, but have never checked to see their views on this subject.  Plus there are current ministers quoted who have solid credentials, education, and ministries.

Having said that, I would warn you that many of these people are not interested enough in finding out the truth to do any research on it.  For some reason they just want to give you their “opinions” even though they know how much it will hurt you.

If you want to have a dialogue with them you could start by asking why they think animals do not go to Heaven.  They may say they never saw anything about it in the Bible, and then you will tell them that there are many Scriptures about the subject if they want to learn.

Some popular responses are that animals do not have souls and spirits, which I know is silly for us to hear people say.  You could review Chapter 5 of There Is Eternal Life For Animals on this one.  This section can’t be answered in a couple of words, but the same Greek and Hebrew words used for human beings for soul and spirit are used for the animals.  It was the people who translated the Bible into English who altered the wording.

A very important section of Scripture is in Romans Chapter 8 and this starts on page 68 of There Is Eternal Life For Animals.  It says that the “creature” itself shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption.  You really have to read up on the subject, and even then, I think it is much more efficient and beneficial to give someone a book or lend them yours.

There are many aspects of this subject that you can speak about, such as the fact that no creature died until Adam and Eve sinned.  Mankind’s fate determined the animals’ fate.  So when death entered into this world, it began for both people and animals.  Then when Jesus reversed the curse (remember John 3:16 – God so loved the WORLD) and died for our salvation, it was for people and animals.  The difference being that the animals were without sin from the beginning.

I hope this has been of some help in responding to people who disagree with the truth about animals going to Heaven.

God bless you all,

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

I Corinthians 15:21-22
